This Saturday Rome will reach 2765 years since its foundation. Happy Birthday Eternal City! The Birth of Rome was established as a national holiday in 1924, during the Fascist era, and was celebrated with the Workers’ Day, also on April 21. At that time they chose this date because, according to legend, Romulus founded the city of Rome just 21 April 753 BC. This story was passed down through the writings of some philosophers of antiquity, including Varro.With the fall of the Western Roman Empire, however, many customs and Roman traditions were lost.
